The Oxford Session has approved a Special Offering to be received August 14 and 21st . This offering will be sent to a yet to be determined Presbyterian Church in flood damaged West Virginia. Please write your check to Oxford Presbyterian Church and mark “Flood” in the memo. Please place cash for this offering in a marked envelope.
Oxford Forum and the Adult and Children's Sunday School classes will resume September 4 at 10:00 A.M.
Forum Schedule, each Sunday:
Sep 4 - Carroll Comstock and Bob Biersack lead a discussion about alternate sources for electrical energy.
Sep. 11 - Michelle Jones explains the remarkable work of Hospice.
Sep. 18 - Dr. Ed Spencer, geologist, describes the earth under our feet.
The Lunch Bunch will meet at Oxford September 16, 11:30am. This year the group will meet only every other month. Host church will supply beverages and the main entree. Participants will bring a side dish or dessert to share. "Program time" will be given over to fellowship.
Oxford Reeves-Whitehurst Scholarship:-
On May 26, 20216, seven local students received scholarships from Oxford Presbyterian Church. The recipients are: Josette Corazza, Jordan Deacon,Edward Leland, Cody Manspile, Conner Ray Potter, Emily Richardson, and Amanda Wright.
On the first Sunday of each month Oxford Church collects the 4 Cents A Meal Offering. This offering supports two local needs: the Community Table which offers a free-will offering meal every week at the RARA building located next to the hospital, and the local Food Pantry for purchase of food items to stock their shelves. Oxford also accepts donations of food and personal items for the Food Pantry. For September we request donations of brown and white rice.
The Oxford Session has established a Pastor's Discretionary Fund which the pastor can use as he deems necessary to help individuals in desperate need. This will be funded by donations only. If you would like to contribute to this fund please write the check to Oxford Presbyterian Church and write "Pastor's Discretionary Fund" in the memo.
