Oyster Supper January 24th
Sunday, September 21, was Pumpkin Day at Oxford!! Rev. Douty loaded his roll-back with his home grown pumpkins and gourds and brought them to church for the congregation! Everyone left for home with the bounty of his efforts, anxious to decorate their homes for Fall. We thank you, Rev. Douty !!

Oxford Forum Schedule at 10:00 am each Sunday:
Oct. 19 - An area young couple explains their Coptic Christian beliefs.
Oct. 26 - We will discuss Child Foster Care in Virginia with a mother who adopted a foster
child. We heard from the child, now an adult a few weeks ago.
There will be a called Congregational meeting on October 19, 2014, at the close of worship for the purpose of electing members of the congregation to serve on the nominating committee.
Investment Committee will meet on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 7:00 PM in the Oxford Parlor. Members of the congregation are welcome to attend.
Horace's Hike - Horace plans a hike next Sunday, Oct 26. We will visit Crabtree Falls, the highest waterfall in the eastern half of the U.S. Bring a sandwich. We will leave after church and eat at the base of the falls.
Again this year, Oxford will provide winter fuel for the Conways. If you can help, join Horace Saturday, Oct. 25, 9am for the first work time. We will cut and split on-site logs, then transport the wood a few yards and stack it near the big outdoor furnace. Amanda reports that Tony is failing visibly.
On the first Sunday of each month Oxford Church collects the 4 Cents A Meal Offering. This offering supports two local needs: the Community Table which offers a free-will offering meal every week at the RARA building located next to the hospital, and the local Food Pantry for purchase of food items to stock their shelves. Oxford also accepts donations of food items for the Food Pantry. For October the Food Pantry requests donations of whole wheat cereals.
The Oxford Session has established a Pastor's Discretionary Fund which the pastor can use as he deems necessary to help individuals in desperate need. This will be funded by donations only. If you would like to contribute to this fund please write the check to Oxford Presbyterian Church and write "Pastor's Discretionary Fund" in the memo.
There are copies of "Celebrate Effinger 1922-2010" by Clinton Anderson still available. Contact Evelyn Ayers.
The Oxford website contains a calendar with Oxford Happenings, community events and birthdays of Oxford’s members. If you do not want your name to be listed on the date of your birthday (month and day only) please contact Susan or Rusty Keith.
If you happen to take any pictures at Oxford events please share them with the website editorial team so the pictures may be used on the Oxford website!
Please assist Rev. Douty in his pastoral work by informing him when you or your friends need his particular attention, or when you simply desire a prayer in your home.....day or night.
