The Oxford Session has approved a Special Offering to be received August 14 and 21st . This offering will be sent to a yet to be determined Presbyterian Church in flood damaged West Virginia. Please write your check to Oxford Presbyterian Church and mark “Flood” in the memo. Please place cash for this offering in a marked envelope.
New Monmouth Presbytereian Church has called Casey and Rachel Clark, both pastors, to lead their church. They will be installed next Sunday, July 31, 4:00 pm, at New Monmouth. Public is invited. Casey will be installed. Rachel will be ordained as a Presbyterian Teaching Elder (pastor).
The new interim pastor for Collierstown Presbyterian Church is Rev. Steve Willis, who will be commuting from his home in Bedford.
Mobile Food Pantry – Summer Schedule
Every Tuesday from 2:00-3:00 the mobile Food Pantry will be at the Rockbridge County School Office (former Effinger Elementary School). If your household is in need of extra food, stop by the weekly site to get 1-2 bags of free groceries. To register, email email@example.com or call 540-458-4594.
Grief to Growth Support Group A group for anyone who has experienced the death of a friend or family member. Sponsored by Rockbridge Area Hospice. Will meet Wednesdays for 7 weeks beginning July 20, 2016 from 5-7:00 PM at the Hospice office at 315 Myers Street, Lexington. For more information or to register contact: Kam Flynn at 540-463-1848.
Oxford Forum and the Adult and Children's Sunday School classes are not being held during the summer months. Classes will resume the first of September.
Oxford Reeves-Whitehurst Scholarship:-
On May 26, 20216, seven local students received scholarships from Oxford Presbyterian Church. The recipients are: Josette Corazza, Jordan Deacon,Edward Leland, Cody Manspile, Conner Ray Potter, Emily Richardson, and Amanda Wright.
Lunch Bunch !! The decision has been made to continue Lunch Bunch, with a slightly different format. Oxford will host the event in September, furnishing only the meat and drinks. Attendees will bring a dish to share.
Lunch Bunch will meet only in September, November, March and May, which is one meeting per church per year.
On the first Sunday of each month Oxford Church collects the 4 Cents A Meal Offering. This offering supports two local needs: the Community Table which offers a free-will offering meal every week at the RARA building located next to the hospital, and the local Food Pantry for purchase of food items to stock their shelves. Oxford also accepts donations of food and personal items for the Food Pantry. For August we request donations of dish soap.
The Oxford Session has established a Pastor's Discretionary Fund which the pastor can use as he deems necessary to help individuals in desperate need. This will be funded by donations only. If you would like to contribute to this fund please write the check to Oxford Presbyterian Church and write "Pastor's Discretionary Fund" in the memo.
